Spendor have introduced the D7 loudspeaker. The elegant, modern looking Spendor D7 is a medium sized enclosure featuring a 2.5 way drive unit array, capable of creating a fresh and vibrant sound stage.
The Spendor D7 Loudspeakers feature the LPZ Tweeter which is built around a stainless steel front plate which forms a damped acoustic enclosure directly in front of a polyamide diaphragm. A phase correcting micro foil is incorporated within the front plate to equalise sound wave path lengths across the surface of the diaphragm.
The Spendor D7 mid-bass drive unit features an advanced polymer cone (EP77) for enhanced clarity and extremely low colouration. The low frequency drive unit has a rigid two part cone featuring a a bonded Kevlar composite, capable of producing a powerfu and above all accurate low frequency response. Both drive units have a diameter of 18cm with a magnesium cast alloy chassis with high efficiency motor systems and excellent thermal dissipation producing a wide dynamic range.
Spendor’s fifth generation linear flow port technology delivers a deep and articulate bass output with natural timing which works effectively in small rooms and close to boundary walls. The high quality speaker cable terminals are also recessed within the port aperture to neatly conceal the cable connections for an enhanced appearance.
The cabinet construction is also a key component in creating a musical loudspeaker with musicality and timing. In conventional loudspeaker design, high density cabinet panels are damped to reduce cabinet vibration and colouration. Spurious enery is stored and released slowy and this introduces blurring and slowing of the sound. Spendor use asymetric aperture bracing within the cabinet to disperse internal waves. Dynamic Damping with small low mass polymer dampers at key interface points help convert spurious energy within the cabinet in to inaudible heat. The result of this technology is a silent and rigid cabinet capable of producing a naturally dynamic and engaging sound.
The Spendor D7 is a very efficient design with a rating of 90dB with an 8 ohm load producing an easy to drive speaker with a wide compatibility with amplifiers. The D7’s can play very loud if required and without any compression effecting the sound.
