Description
The Naim XPS DR power supply is highly sophisticated with six separately regulated, very low-noise outputs, featuring a huge toroidal transformer, six power regulators, and smoothing capacitors provide exceptional dynamic stability. These supplies are branched and re-regulated, some twice in the CD player.
The addition of anti-vibration, resonance-controlling feet complement the elegant cast and extruded anti-magnetic chassis protect the sensitive internal components from resonance and microphonic vibration.
The Naim XPS DR power supply is required and comes as standard with the CDS3 but can also be added to the CDX2 CD player, providing a substantial improvement in sound quality and a possible upgrade path from one player to another. It also makes a worthwhile addition to the HDX hard disk player, and Naim DAC where it delivers immediately appreciable performance benefits.
The Naim XPS was updated in 2012 as a result of a two-year project to develop a new discrete regulator (DR) for Naim power supplies. The new Naim DR now features improvements to the mechanical decoupling and internal layout. These improvements, developed through intensive listening tests, significantly raise performance and make music even more communicative and enjoyable.
The Naim XPS DR can be used in conjunction with the NDX network audio player to significantly enhance its performance. However, only Classic Series XPS units are compatible with the NDX, not the older Olive Series versions. Learn more about the Naim Discrete Regulator here.
Olive Series XPS power supplies should never be paired with an NDX network player as this has the potential to cause the Olive XPS to overheat, damaging the product.*
*Please note: this only applies to Olive Series XPS units when paired with the NDX. The old Olive XPS is compatible with CDX and CDS model CD players, the HDX hard disk player, and the DAC digital to analogue converter.
