KEF Audio have always excelled in their sonic achievements through research and development, adapting the latest material science and computerised modelling to build truly exceptional speakers. With the latest incarnation of the Reference range, there’s always an element of excitement as to what can truly be achieved by KEF as they push the boundaries of sonic performance.
It is safe to say that KEF have surpassed expectations and defined a new level of performance with the KEF Reference 5 floorstanding speakers. Much of the technology in the KEF Reference 5’s is derived from the work that went into the Blade and Blade 2 speakers, making it one of the most radical changes to the Reference series seen in recent years, with brand new drive units and a complete overhaul to the cabinet design.
KEF’s passion for perfection embodied in a tall three-way floorstander that aligns four powerful, extremely linear 165mm (6.5″) bass drivers two above and two below KEF’s latest 125mm (5″) MF/HF Uni-Q array, with the sensational new 25mm (1″) vented aluminium dome tweeter at the acoustic centre. Lows are reproduced with consummate agility and control, fluidly integrating with the Uni-Q output to create an all-enveloping soundfield of spine-tingling accuracy and depth.
For music or film, it reveals subtleties you’d never noticed while gripping your emotions with the full power of the performance.
